This study written by Lyle Sussman, teaches training techniques that help individuals avoid comments or behaviors that be racist, sexist, or prejudice. The training model is based on the premise that prejudice and interpersonal competence are independent dimensions. The author states although our intuition and life experiences teach us that some people harbor deep seated prejudice they can skillfully move in culturally diverse situations.
The author discusses four archetypes. 1.) Courteously tolerant, this person is characterized as prejudiced, yet they can hide this prejudice so that their attitudes cannot harm their ability to function on their jobs or in society. 2.)
