In an article on The Washington Post, the author included a post on Reddit to bring attention to the side effect of playing Pokémon Go – injuries. The post said, “Pokémon Go put me in the ER last night.” In addition to this, the author also included another post on Reddit about getting hurt from playing the game. It said, “Not even 30 minutes after the release last night, I slipped and fell down a ditch” (Tsukayama 2016). In another article on New York Post, the author also mentions that playing Pokémon Go is becoming dangerous. Besides including stories about players getting hurt, the author also points out that Pokémons some times show up on car dashboards or get spotted at intersections. By having the Pokémons placed in this dangerous area, the players may get into car accident (New York Post 2016). Besides getting hurt or into accident, playing Pokémon Go can be harmful to players’ grip. According to an article from New York Daily News, the author mentions that repetitive swiping, tapping, and flicking lead to fingers or hand injury. The author includes posts on twitter as example. One of them is from Marina Arnold. She said, “Almost sprained my wrist playing Pokémon” (Pesce 2016). During the interview, Lito said, “It’s just a fun social experience that lasted for a little. I made acquaintances but nothing like ‘let’s trade numbers’ or anything special. The social experience itself did not allow strong connections, because there wasn’t an incentive to interact with another player within the game.” He also mentioned that even though some times players gather at the same location to capture a Pokémon, players play the game individually, because there is no user engagement with other players. Kenneth also mentioned something similar like that. He thinks that the game is beneficial because Pokémon Go provides a community for players to make friends. In the end, he did make friends through playing the game, but he only keeps in touch with a few, because he mainly plays it with his old friends. Above all, these opinions show that Pokémon Go does provide a platform for its players to connect, but the connection is not
