The Center for Medical Progress had actors pose as representatives of a company charged with procuring fetal tissue for researchers. They secretly recorded trips to two clinics located in Texas and Colorado, and lunches with executives of Planned Parenthood. These videos have led to a government investigation of Planned Parenthood with the senate voting whether or not to continue funding Planned Parenthood. the major issue that these videos have risen is what Planned Parenthood is doing legal. This is the reason for all the media attention and government investigation circulating Planned Parenthood. All wield allegations of Planned Parenthood profiteering from the sale of fetal tissue is scorched to ashes when the videos are transcribed. Every time the Planned Parenthood officials communicated anything to do with the exchange of money for fetal tissue they have specified that the money was for the preservation of the tissue before delivery and the delivering of the tissue. Which seems logical since in one of the videos Mary Gatter, the medical director of Planned Parenthood, states that she would sell the the tissues for around $50. A $50 charge for the “shipping and handling” is fairly appropriate since a one day shipping for amazon is about $20 and that isn’t that the tissue must be kept at a certain temperature, is fragile, and most likely must be delivered within a minuscule time frame. Imagine how much Amazon would charge if you needed a 3 hour delivery. Amazon would most definitely charge a person anywhere from $100 to $500 just for the shipping. This wouldn’t consist of special handling like fragile or keep at a constant 4 degrees Celsius. At $50 per specimen, Planned Parenthood may in fact be losing money with every transaction. With that the allegation that Planned Parenthood is profiting off of the fetal tissue is

Out of the numerous services that Planned Parenthood offers the public, only three percent of all of their procedures are abortions; meaning that ninety-seven percent of everything they do is basic health care and other medical services. Cecile Richards, the President of Planned Parenthood, lists the statistics in her article, Today, We Fight Back, “every year, 2.7 million people come through the doors of our health centers, a million people participate in our sex education programs, and 60 million people get health information and other resources from us online.” Since the Republicans who drafted this bill often focus on abortion, they completely ignore all of the good that Planned Parenthood does for the community. Getting into doctor’s offices can be incredibly long and hard process, as documented in Cecile Richards’ article; she talks about a woman that she met who, after her husband lost his job, lost their health insurance. After finding a lump on her breast, she only found two clinics that would take her on as a patient, but they had two-month long waiting lists, so she went to Planned Parenthood.…

Even if one were to claim that commercial surrogacy is not the sale of the child as the child is already the father’s, Anderson clarifies that child is still treated as a commodity due to the treatment of the surrogate’s rights over the child (1990: 77). The couple pay for exclusive rights to the child. If the surrogate were to refuse to relinquish her parental rights, she would not be paid of the service of surrogacy. As the child has not been given to the commissioning couple, she will not be paid. Abortion is commonly featured in the media, however they package abortion in such a way that they specifically avoid taking a direct stance on whether abortion is wrong or justified, meaning they shy away from being Pro-life or Pro-choice. However, indirectly condensing symbols are often used. For example, using terms such as anti-life rather than Pro-choice or anti-choice rather than Pro-life to describe different stances on abortion have a negative connotation and subliminally reveals the media host’s opinion on the matter. Another example includes when speaking about abortion using the term baby or infant versus using the term fetus.…
