Whittington’s perspective about strategy: Richard Whittington classifies strategy into four different perspectives. But Michael Porter defines different from how to get a competitive advantage by acting different and unique value delivered to customers. This traditional approach has been explained by Whittington that the highest purpose of the company and rational planning as a means to achieve it. This approach to strategy requires that managers are willing and able to adopt the strategy of maximizing profits through the rational planning in the long term. This includes the definition of the mission and setting the goal of the organization, making the SWOT analysis and the definition of the strategy of the organization. Evolutionary approach is to see the formulation of the strategy that the incremental approach is driven by the constraints of the market and leads to victory in the organization more efficient and productive driven by its strategy.
