The compositions of God Help the Girl use the lyrics and melodies to transcend the meaning of the typical song, a perfect example of this is “Musician, Please Take Heed.” This masterpiece spans across Eve’s several day long spiral out of control, ending up with her in the hospital again. The song, being as intricate as it is beautiful, can be broken into three parts corresponding with her endeavor and the three verses: her fear, her mania, and her coping. The lyrics undergo multiple effortless transitions between the parts, in the crossing from her fear to her mania Eve sings, “I’ll kick this mood off with a change of scene” and the music and lyrics proceed to speed up in tempo.
