Pedigree Plus vs. Iams Healthy Naturals Marketing executives design their advertising messages to appeal to a specific audience using specific techniques. There is always a specific end goal in mind. Whether it be to sell a product, or to get a message out, executives seek to accomplish their goal. There are many different strategies used to make an advertisement effective. Two advertisements that demonstrate these strategies very well are Pedigree Plus dog food and Iams Healthy Naturals dog food. The Pedigree Plus dog food line advertises to dog owners. The goal is to make owners believe that their dog needs Pedigree Plus dog food over any other brand, thus resulting in dog owners purchasing that dog food. Instead of taking the normal route and saying that it is vet recommended, the ad reiterates that the dogs love the product and that they absolutely need it. The advertisement tells viewers, “From Healthy Joints to Healthy Heart, all of our recipes are tailored to help target your dog’s specific needs. It’s really good food for dogs.” Then the advertisement goes on to say a catchy quote, “The tasty stuff dogs love, the healthy stuff they need.” The advertisement strives to ensure readers that Pedigree is a trustworthy product. Pedigree makes it clear in their advertisement that their food is the best for the viewer’s dog. One of the first things that viewers eyes are drawn to, is a picture of a dog that appears to be smiling. The advertisement strives to show viewers that they will be making a good decision by buying Pedigree dog food. The advertisement even goes as for to say that dogs love it, and like stated before, that dogs will not be happy without this food. They both demonstrate their want for dogs to be as happy and healthy as possible. Both advertisements also show viewers that their dogs should eat food that is good for their dogs. Both emphasize the importance of natural ingredients in dog food. Both advertisements also use emotions to persuade viewers to buy their food. They both make viewers heart’s swell when they see the happy and healthy dog. Both advertisements take an ethical approach as well by making natural and healthy foods for the dogs, instead of using cheap fillers and unhealthy ingredients to make the easiest and fastest benefit for their company like the majority of brands do. Most dog owners want the best for their dogs, and quality food is definitely what is best for them. This could easily persuade viewers to buy their brands of dog
