But, he can’t handle the sight of death. “Himmler finds it difficult to witness these deaths, the commandant makes an appeal to him. If it is hard for you, he says, think what it must be for these young men who must carry out these executions, day after day.” (pg 255) After he is told this he creates an inventions to not witness killings. He creates a mobile killing truck so the men won’t have to witness as many deaths.
At the end of Griffin's essay, she says “A train is making it’s way through Germany.” (pg 263) As we discussed earlier, that train represents life. Life is full of secrets, and whether you want people to know them or not, they have a way of coming out.
