Chaos, From Seed to Full Bloomed Flower
Othello was a general of the armies of Venice, a Christian Moor who was married to Desdemona who was white. Iago was married to Emilia, worked for Othello and hated him for overlooking him for a promotion. Iago’s hatred for Othello enticed him to concoct a plan to raised Chaos into Othello’s life. (Shakespeare) The role of chaos in Othello was to enter trivial and develop until it consumed play. This was done by Iago who cultivated the seed of suspicion in Othello’s mind and nurtured the seed into a sprout of anxiety, until finally it activated the sympathetic nervous system and blossomed into full blown chaos and rage. Iago secretly hated Othello because Othello was ranked above him in the military. When the time came for Othello to choose a lieutenant, he overlooked Iago and also because Iago suspected that Othello slept with his wife Emilia (Shakespeare). Iago sought to get revenge on Othello “I hate that Moor, and it is thought abroad that ‘twixt my sheets’ has done my office. I know if ’t be true, but I, for mere suspicion in that kind, will do as if for surety” (Shakespeare 55). Iago’s hate for Othello made him desire to consume Othello’s life chaos and torment him with his own thoughts until he descended into madness. To achieve this Iago planted a seed of suspicion and chaos in Othello’s mind, the suspicion of infidelity of his wife Desdemona with Cassio. “I speak not yet of proof.
