11 October 2016 Friendship: An Act of Sacrifice(Rough Draft) In the words of Shauna Niequist“It’s not hard to decide what you want your life to be about. What’s hard is figuring out what you’re willing to give up in order to do the things you really care about.” True friendship requires sacrifice. As the words above suggest when you decide what you want in life, it often calls for giving up something or making sacrifices in order to get those rewards or enjoy that something. Friendship can be intimate, sincere, warm, and though rewarding can often be painful. In John Steinbeck’s novel “Of Mice and Men” , a gripping story about two wandering migrant workers in California,the story’s main character George shows how true friendship requires sacrifice by shooting his friend Lennie in the end of the novel.
