The Ordinary Character In Homer's Odyssey

You are ordinary, but just like you the main character was ordinary, but this is how is life turned upside down. In the book The Odyssey by Homer, our main character Odysseus was a pretty ordinary guy but faced with making decisions in significant number of life death situation it been able to pull through and make it back home. He did have help from the Gods and Goddess through especially Athena. Odysseus shapes his future by listening to the gods and goddess guidance, if he had no listened to them he would most likely still be at the challenges side of the hero’s circle. You may being saying “Odysseus isn’t the one shaping future the gods are.” that is true but he had to choose to listen to them and do as they say.

They have decided behind Poseidon's back to force Calypso to let him free. They sent Hermes to tell the news to Calypso for he was the messenger God. Hermes told Odysseus to beware that Poseidon finds you he will try with all his might to kill you and Odysseus is like yeah sure whatever. “So you gods are all shocked at me now…” page 64 to 65 and “Then he gathered the clouds and stirred up the deep with his trident: he roused all the tempestuous winds, and covered in clouds both land and sea; night rushed down from the heavens. East wind and South wind dashed together, West wind blowing hard and North wind from the cold heights, rolling up great billows.” These quotes show that Odysseus only slightly listen to the Gods, and their wisdom. If it was not for Athena and her undying willingness to help Odysseus will have been dead. It is all because the Gods felt for Odysseus that he has made it this far, he should have died, or be stuck on Calypso’s island till he died, the choices aren’t always the smartest choices because up to this point all his crewmen are dead, all by the hands of his decisions. But he made those decisions and now it is time to move on and make it home he has made atonement and
