The participatory mode relies on interviews, considering them to be a credible source of knowledge about the subject. Participatory documentaries believe that it is impossible for the act of filmmaking to not influence or alter the events being filmed. Unlike most modes of documentary, Observational aims for a connection that is strong and intimacy between the participant and filmmaker. It presents individual human character in a life situation.
There is a great degree if naturalism presented throughout the film armadillo and it strived to be perceived as authentic. For this reason, observational cinema can be debated as more genuine than other modes. Observational documentaries attempt to observe life with almost no interference or intervention and observe what is happening with a fly on the wall approach.
These documentaries interact with subjects as little as possible and include no voice over dictating conclusions and leave the rest for the viewers to decide. The strength of observational documentary comes from its purity in truth telling therefore it being an authentic mode of documentary. Observational documentaries aspire for a strong connection with the subjects and naturally perceive them in their own skin. Although observational documentaries can be perceived as a true depiction of the truth, the other modes also display fundamental features that create a high esteemed
