This excerpt specifically addresses the American people in what they and the former President had done together throughout his 8-year span as President. Within the passage, it has a number of patterns, clauses, verbals, and “The Big Nine.” Many of the patterns are the common VI and VII’s are found throughout the excerpt. To continue, the clause made up much of the excerpt with nominals unusually taking up much of the clause category with 21 out of 31.
