He discusses the Spanish and American war, which put America in the control of Cuba, later in history there was the Cuban revolution, which leads to the U.S having trade restrictions, and embargos because they did not want to have a relationship with a country with a communist government. With these facts, there are still people who are against the ending of the Cuban embargo. In the video, “Continue Cuban Embargo Because Communism!”, Josh Bernstein, is against the ending of the Cuban Embargo. He thinks that this is openly allowing dictatorships and relationships with dictator countries. He believes that they have not earned the right to have the embargo lifted because of their regime and also because he believes that it will not be useful to the U.S. In the video, “Castro’s Speech at UN General Debate”, President of Cuba, Raúl Castro Ruz, Ruz discusses the new relationship between America and Cuba and also the issues that Cuba has faced over the years. Also, throughout the speech, he discusses the commitment that Cuba has had with the United Nations Organization. He talks about the injustices and human rights problems that Cubans have faced. As stated before, Cubans are now allowed some freedoms that they have not had in the past, such as land and the use of cellphones. They are slowly growing and developing their human development index. In the power point there is an article that states that Cuba laid of nearly half a million workers, which in place will allow those workers to enter the private sector. This will allow them to become self-employed and able to build their own businesses. Also, once they are allowed to come into the country, they can see their families, who they were not allowed to see in the past. Ultimately, ending the embargo will help Cuba in many ways. Lastly, based on the statements made by Josh Bernstein in the video “Continue Cuban Embargo Because Communism”, I will disagree with his opinion. I think that his concern with the Cuban regime and the human rights of Cuban people have more so to do with the past than what exactly is happening now. Since the president Fidel Castro, was replaced by his brother Raul Castro, there have been many efforts to change Cuba for the better. It may take some time, but they are continuing to develop and grow into a better
