The Film Noah Vs. The Actual Bible Story of Noah

Hollywood has always stretched the truth or should I say run with there imaginations when it comes to true stories. You can especially see this in the making of two movies based on two very real biblical stories, Noah and Moses.
In this paper I will be comparing the biblical story of Noah with the Hollywood Film Noah. I am a firm believer in books being better than movies, especially when it comes to true stories. I have seen the movie Noah, and I also know and have read the story about Noah in the bible, and right off the bat I’m going to say that Hollywood definitely let their imaginations fly on this one. According to one of my sources, “A man is chosen by his world 's creator to undertake a momentous mission before an apocalyptic flood cleanses the world”(IMDB). They got a few of the facts right but other than that they just recreated the story. The first thing that stood out to me in Hollywood version was the very interesting story line. They basically took the key components of the story like the people and the basic plot of the story and made it there own, by adding in different characters, twists, and ideas. The reason why I believe they did this was

The movie is more for the people that don’t really care about the actual storyline, and just want to see a good film. However, if you do want to see a biblically correct movie, it is not for you and you will be disappointed. The movie can almost be insulting to some Christians, by how much the creators of this movie deviated from the storyline of the Bible, and that is the main reason why I don’t like the movie. So if you’re like me and what to see somewhat of a biblically correct movie that is still good, do yourself a favor and don’t watch this, or you can watch it and see what I’m saying for

Saving Private Ryan, Casablanca, and Inglourious Basterds are three different movies that were produced in different time periods and have different plots, details, and points of view, but all still revolve around one common historical event-World War II. This is an occurrence that happens not only in movies but also in literature. A literary example of this is the correlation between the flood story in The Epic of Giglamesh and the flood story in the Old Testament Bible. Giglamesh is an epic poem written by an ancient Mesopotamian culture around the year 2000 B.C. In Giglamesh, the god Utnapishtim recounts the story of a flood, in which he is saved from a global flood by building a large boat (Taylor).…

Undeniably, Noah and Utnapishtim tried to contribute in their own way to help restore the order, but did so differently through their actions, which revolved around their social differences. The last significant difference between the Bible and The Epic of Gilgamesh is the promises the god or the gods made afterward. In both literary works, they used a rainbow to symbolize their promises after their repentance and admission of guilt. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the mother goddess blamed Enlil for the flood.…

The film, Noah, directed by Darren Aronofsky, written by Ari Handel was released recently in March 2014 and is based on the biblical event of Noah’s ark. Several historical books contain the story of Noah and early civilizations have flood stories recorded at around the same time period. It is hard to pin down what actually happened in the flood account because it happened in a very early time period and there are several different versions of the story. The film portrays the story of Noah in a very cinematic, intense, climatic way. The goal of the director was to make money based off of a popular biblical story, not to illustrate the event in a historically accurate way.…

Throughout the years the “Passion of the Christ” movies have been used to tell the story about Christ’s death and resurrection. Then in 2004 Mel Gibson made his version of the movie and as I like to say brought it in to the 21st century with updated graphics, violence, and blood. The combination of images, faith, and history this film truly was like no other Passion of Christ movie ever done. The Passion of the Christ is a serious and deep piece of cinematography, it not just show us how much pain one man went through for us but it celebrates for the unbeliever the triumph of humanity over an absolute brutality and through this movie for all the believers of the Christian faith this movie has become a powerful reminder that we still need to…
