In the article of natural selection by Charles Darwin there is a lot of strong points and powerful statements, but do we ever think about what makes them strong and powerful statements. You ever wonder what a theory really is? Darwin statement is considered a theory. It only became a theory through the use of ethos, pathos, and logos. No matter what articles always use some sort logos, ethos, and pathos. This is how we make theories and get reactions like we do because we use logic which is logos, emotion comes from pathos, and bring credibility to are writings is the use of ethos. Such as the logic needed to think up the theories and all the information, research, and equipment need to prove and explain such theories. The logos or logic behind all of these theories was that we knew species changed over time and were constantly adapting we just were not sure how these species were doing such changes and adapting. So Darwin did his research and found the theory of Jean - Baptiste Lamarck and started building on his research to fine natural selection. The logic was in Jean - Baptiste Lamarck theory but needed to be taken a step further. To do that Darwin had to also bring the logics from the discovery and theory of Thomas Malthus. Finally he looked at Sir Charlse Lyell theory which gave him all the logic needed in order to make his theory. By him using the logic of other theories it gave him a better understand because he was able to take the best part of each theory and combine it. This is because of the creditability that is needed to support any theory. Darwin 's theory gained its information through Jean- Baptiste Lamark theory on gradual change. He also used the theory 's of Thomas Malthus. Thomas Malthus theory was talking about people producing more offspring than local resources can support. Then he looked at Sir Charlse Lyell theory which entailed that the Earth was millions of times older than was previously thought. By combining all of these theories Darwin recognized it went against people belief in that God created humans. Through his theory he has been able to make some since of his logic by observing specifically about nature. This has not been fully explained in the other theories.
