Analysis Of Child Observation

Setting: Nana and Papa’s house, it is a natural setting that the child is comfortable being in. He has a routine when he comes to the house. He has his own toy area and knows where his toys are. He has his own chair that he brings out when he comes over. There is a large room that is full of plants that he likes to play in, but isn’t allowed to touch the plants. He does anyways. He likes to play in the dirt. I imagine that he thinks it’s like a jungle. The house is a walk through house, meaning you can go in a complete circle, around and around. He likes to ride on his toys and push his baby stroller around the house and doesn’t ever have to stop and turn around. Lucas Leon David Brasuell is 20 months old; he is the first grandchild …show more content…
Lucas got an object that was too big for the lid to close, and as I watched him try several times to put the toy in the hidden compartment and close the lid, I could see that he was learning that the toy was too big to fit. Lucas confirmed his newly learned realization when he ran and grabbed a second toy and tried it to see if it fit, he closed the lid and I thought he was done, but he surprised me. He removed the toy and tried the larger toy again; it was one of those ah ha moments that he removed the larger toy and returned to the toy that fit. He closed the lid and rode away. As I watched him for the rest of play, he did not try the toy again and in addition when he tried other objects he only tried them once and if they didn’t fit the first time, he put them aside and found other toys that did …show more content…
He does show separation anxiety, “becoming upset when their trusted caregiver leaves” (Berk, L. E. 2014). It usually is more prevalent when mom leaves than when his dad leaves and he usually wants nana immediately following rather than papa. However, that seems to change when he is at the house with us. If papa leaves the house, Lucas becomes very upset, and will cry at the door and bang on the door and he does not seem to have that reaction when I leave and papa is home with him. He almost always prefers nana when he is tired or hurt and clings to papa when we are out and about or outside

For example, “when Woody and the rest of the toys were on the way to their fiery doom, they helped Lotso get up to a small sidewalk so that he could press the stop button. Once he got to the top, he teased them and left them there to die. If it wasn’t for the aliens, the toys would’ve burned.” (Toy Story 3 by Walt Disney Pictures).…
