Allen, wants readers to focus on the true meaning behind the so-called illegal act of burning the flag. With the Secret Life of Bees, the author, Sue Monk Kidd, takes a lost girl’s journey into a beautiful and meaning piece of writing about accepting others, through the use of characterization.
