He would say, “ If you don’t learn but one thing from me, let it be this: manners are everything. They change how people feel about you and how they feel about themselves. Don’t ever stray from them.” Being a little girl at the age of five, this didn’t mean much to me. It would continue to not mean very much to me until I hit the ripe old age of eight. This is when my father’s lessons would come into fruition. My father wasn’t the youngest of the bunch. Due to me being an adopted child, the age gap between my father and I was much larger than the …show more content…
Knock! Knock! Three times, all at once. No one answered, but from a far i heard a noise from the barn. Being a little child with no common sense, i urged towards the barn. Knock! Knock! Knock! Yet again i did, but this time as the barn door. No one answered. The red paint on the barn door began to scratch as i dug my nails in, scared of what was inside. I gently tugged at the door...more and more...then all at once. Inside was our neighbor covered in feathers and foam. He was making a duck decoy for when duck hunting season came along. Almost everyone has had a person in their life that has taken advantage of them and their kindness. That person may be someone who is not very important to them, or it could be a person that would have had a huge impact on them if the circumstances had been different. The person who took advantage of my juvenile naivety and my willingness to believe that everyone had good in them, was my birth mother. My birth mother is many things, and many of her qualities are considered desirable, such as her intelligence, beauty, and wittiness. However, she, like many others, also has poor qualities; but hers may be considered worse than others.…

Life Lesson Sometimes in life, our happiness and success depend on our ability to adapt. Historical Support and Argument My life lesson that I pulled from this unit is that sometimes in life, our happiness and success depend on our ability to adapt. Many were shipped illegally over from Africa, but some were taken as free citizens and stripped of their freedom (12 Years a Slave).…

Remember the last time you were at a casino and you heard all that yelling at the craps table and wondered “what are they yelling about”, but you never ventured over there because you are too intimidated by craps. You’re not the only one. I used to watch from a distance trying to figure out what was going on, people were throwing chips everywhere yelling all sorts of crazy jargon (“press”, “same bet”, “hard 8”, “odds”) all while the dealers are moving chips all over the place paying people and taking other people’s money. What a crazy and intimidating game.…

It was a chaotic day at the hospital, and the waiting room was packed tighter than a can of sardines. The smell of disinfectant and sweat seemed pleasant, when compared to the baby with the sagging diaper running around.
