“Mom was right: You are what you eat” written by David Katz in 2010 talks about the fact that individuals’ food choices affect their health and the importance of eating clean. In the article, Katz uses clear reasons, credible sources, solid data evidence, and vivid examples to explain how our bodies process food, how the food people consume can directly affect bodies, how eating badly contributes to the most of the chronic diseases and deaths, and how to choose clean food. He encourages readers to eat clean and stay healthy. By the use of logos, ethos, and pathos in the article, David comes to the assertion that “you are what you eat.”
I am a girl who likes eating vegetable, fruit and fiber-rich food. Usually, I eat a banana or an apple, chia seed toast, and a yogurt for breakfast. At lunch, I like eating salmon/chicken salad or white bean wrap with avocado, or sesame noodle. For the dinner, I usually eat a vegetable soup and chicken breast/beef/turkey salad with tomato and cucumber.

Since then, I have not eaten fast foods and snacks and desserts with a high level of calories and sugar. To stay healthy, I keep tracking my BMI. My current BMI is 18.5, indicating my weight is in the normal range for adults of my height. In these five years, I am good in physical condition. After reading Katz’s article, I learned that every cell in my body was created from what I eat and drink; my clean foods help nourish my body and promote a healthy
