And Still We Rise by Miles Corwin
1) In this book there was two teachers, Toni Little and Anita Moultrie. These two teachers had different styles of teaching their class. One way of teaching that really popped out at me was how Toni assigned an essay to the class to see the difference in writing of the student. This way she would be able to see which students were dedicated to school or which ones where just there to be there and not even pay attention. Another way of teaching that I found very interesting was how Anita Moultrie would teach her student of their own culture and she would tell them she loved them all and that she had faith in them. This could fulfill the student of hope and motivate them to try their best in school and pursue

Another teaching lesson I found was how Little would use the break in between the semesters to go over what they had studied in the past few months. This is a very good teaching method because sometimes some students might need to refresh their mind on what they previously learned especially since students learn so much in just one semester.
2) Olivia was a very hard working student and was attached to school because she saw it like a refuge from her own home. At home she would get constant beatings from her mother until she finally got tired of it and left. The only motivation she really had were the complements she would receive from her teachers. As a Teacher I would advise Olivia to seek for help at the police department and there they could find her a better place for her and I would tell her not to give up in school because she is a very smart girl who can accomplish great things in life and if she ever needed anything to call me and I would be there for her. I’d also recommend that she seeks for a career she loves and that she will be happy

I have all of my family together and don’t have anything more to ask for because I have a shelter, food and clothing. I didn’t realize how hard other students have life. We see them at school happy, but we never know what might be happening at home. Some may not have food at home or might be getting abused. They might also be living with only one parent and their money income isn’t that good. Reading what Olivia went through showed me that if she was so determined to go to college after everything that happened to her, no other student has the choice of giving up and not going to college. The way how Scott Braxton was with the student showed me how there are really great teachers and faculty who are willing to take part of their time to help you. Scott really helped his students out a lot. He would also make sure his students were getting well educated. Teachers like this are very well appreciated because they show their students by action that they are doing their job for the love they feel for their student and not the money. Other teachers might sit at their desk all day on their phone or laptop and just assign students to read an article and answer questions. Most students do not learn well this way. They like to interact with one another and know their different opinions. This book also motivates me to keep doing my best even when hard times come. These students were very smart even though they went

Being able to talk to current teachers about their experiences in the classroom and how much they love what they do makes me so eager to become someone like them. What I really took away from both interviews was that being a teacher is hard, but so rewarding in the end. I want to be a teacher who sees a positive change in their students and knows that I was part of that change. However, before I can become a teacher like Ms. Kortas and Mrs. Bohne I need to further develop my sense of patience, flexibility, organization, communication skills, time management, and remember to be comfortable. Without having these skills there will be no building of teacher-student relationships and a hectic classroom.…

Her mentality was, “do whatever is best for the children.” Her reflective practitioner skills were shown in full detail after I completed my lesson. She gave me things that I could improve on before my next lesson, but she presented them in a good manner. I was not being scolded for a bad lesson, and she gave plenty good compliments on it as well. I think exposure to a teacher like Mrs. Beers and her great attitude, will be beneficial to my teaching…

This plan consisted of splitting the class into groups, reading aloud to them and slowly teaching them how to form a great introductory paragraph. This plan also consisted of them using peer reviewing, which required them to listen and be able to comprehend what the student was writing about in his or her argumentative paper. After the plan was implemented, I allowed a one-on-one meeting with my student to determine the progress in which he made. This allowed me to discover new ways in order to help and/or better assess my student in the future or someone who requires the same attention. Also, this experience influenced my perception of teaching greatly.…

But still I like how we can change and adjust some of the assignment, so it workable for everybody, which other class will not be able to do that much. Also I like how you give us the opportunity to decide and speak about out our thought of what we want to do in class. The presentation ideas and books you assigned, I feel that it is very teaching us about women in technology and women struggle to be recognized by society and men. Throughout this semester, you did a very great job at teaching a hard subject that is difficult to discuss openly, but this class will make people like me to realize and think about this kind of issues that will affect us in the…
