For starters the United States as usual takes advantage and makes sure the system benefits them the most. Mazarr states how the United States only follow the guidelines when it's convenient to them. He continues by saying “ international orders gain much of their potency by defining the sources of prestige and status within the system, such as participation in and leadership of international institutions. Their stability depends on leading members abiding—and being” . You can see how this causes problem for other leaders in the order. Why must one follow the rules when another doesn't have to? It turns to be a slap in the face to others involved. Another effect it has is of course economically. Other leaders want more power so they build economically to get it for instances, ”Beijing has thus undertaken a range of economic initiatives to gain more influence within the current order”. they now have the Asian Infrastructure investment bank which economically helps them move up in the order and have some form of dominance. Also Mazarr mentions that there needs to be a more inclusive United Nations security council. “This part of the new order would primarily focus on securing the goals laid down in the UN Charter, especially its prohibition on territorial aggression. It would also concentrate on areas where major-power interests overlap, such as fighting climate change, terrorism, and …show more content…
Honestly I somewhat agree with some of Mazarr reforms such as , “promote liberal values and systems around the world, but do so in ways that manage, rather than exacerbate, the tensions of a mixed order”. Taking a more subtle approach would definitely move some people towards the Liberal side. Which is extremely needed to help keep support for liberal views. For instants dropping little hints while doing something or helping out that person. Many of them make a lot of sense and probably will work to an extent. I also believe that the conflict and fight for power will overcome all of that. I believe no matter what is done you can't fight the inevitable. The liberal center order is going to fall and it's nothing that really can be done about it. Yes. These reforms might hold it of for a while maybe even some decades but it's bound to happen. There is no way to stop it completely in my eyes. There is always going to be that leader that takes advantage of the system with will cause problems. As Mazarr mentions having a more diverse order instead of relying on two pillars will improve the system. Although that will only hold off the problems for awhile. I honestly believe the best way would be for the United States to make some compromises that might not make them too happy. Yes the United States might not be happy with them now but in the long wrong it will play out better for
