There has been controversy all over the country over one professional football player’s decision to take a knee during the nation’s national anthem. Colin Kaepernick took his first knee on September 1st in San Diego, California in a game against the San Diego Chargers. Many people have seen this message that Kaepernick is sending against racial injustice, but not a lot of people are fans of it. I believe Michael Dyson’s article “Famous Athletes Have Always Led the Way” is more effective because he thoughtfully addresses the topic and uses supporting information to help strengthen his article. The Barton Swaim’s article “Kaepernick’s Symbolism Messes the Point” is not executed with any precision and most of his article is based on his own opinions.
