Of Mice And Men Reflection

Stories have a weird way of changing how people think. Several stories have influenced my life. For example Shakespeare 's “Merchant of Venice” is a story that showed me that there isn’t always a bad guy and a good guy. This story taught me that the lines between right and wrong may at times be blurred. Shirley Climo’s Cobweb Christmas, which tells the story of how tinsel came about, taught me that all creatures are important no matter how small, even spiders. But some stories taught bigger, more life changing lessons. Veronica Roth’s Divergent showed me that it is ok to be different. Also that being different is better than conforming. Though I love the Divergent trilogy, it is not the most influential story I have read. That it a title I would have to give to John Steinbeck 's Of Mice and Men. This story holds lots of lessons if you take the time to find them. One of these lessons is that even though you try your best things may not go as planned. Another is with hard work you can create a better life, and to never give up on your dreams. …show more content…
This story should be look at indepthly so that all of its meanings can be discovered. I think it is best to read this book more than once so that it can be truly understood. I believe that everyone can take something away from this relatively short book. Also think that any of the many works of Shakespeare should be studied at some point in a person 's life. All of his works have many lessons in them, allowing for each person to find their own meaning in his works. The language my at times be difficult to understand but it is worth the effort to read the stories that Shakespeare left for

Friendships are symbiotic relationships, where people share their talents and qualities to help each other through life. The novel, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, exhibits many forms of these two-way relationships, the strongest, between the characters George and Lennie, and the other friendships between Crooks and Lennie, and George and Slim. These relationships show how each pair benefit from each other’s companionship, and help each other in the harder times of life, the most important one, being the friendship of George and Lennie. The first and strongest two-way relationship shown in the novel was between Lennie and George, who share each other’s talents and abilities to fulfil each other’s needs. The man in the water exerted a great amount of character to risk his own life to help others in his own time of need. Furthermore, character is what guides people to make decisions, their own decisions on what they choose to participate in. Therefore, people are not only molded by their character, but by their…

In the book Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck, the title is Of Mice And Men because it is an allusion to the poem To a Mouse. Both the poem and the book are about migrant workers and how their fate might not be what they might want for their futures. In the end of the book George kills Lennie which is Lennie's fate. When Lennie snaps the mouse's neck it is foreshadowing when he snaps Curley's wife's neck. Lennie does this because he does not know his own strength.…

The most significant lesson of a story is found in its ending. Children’s stories often give the impression that good always trumps evil, and as such, the hero always wins. The stories one encounters when they are older have more critical and realistic perspectives on certain situations. 1984 and Elysium are excellent examples of this. Both of the protagonists in these works are anti-heroes who struggle to fit in and thrive in their societies.…
