Melinda’s Thoughts Speak by Laurie Anderson is about a freshman girl named Melinda. During the summer before her freshman year, she had a huge traumatic incident that impacted her words, actions and thoughts. The most effective was her thoughts. She does not talk much because she does not feel comfortable and she has nobody to talk to. She has many thoughts though, which show the reader that she is unhappy.
