When singing "Me and Mia" Ted Leo was either assumiong the persona of someone who had bulimia or was actually admitting to having the eating disorder himself. Ann and Ana are a direst link to Ted Leo's friend, Ana, who we now realize had anorexia. From the surface the song seems like a nice indie rock song but as we dig deeper we begin to see and understand the meaning behind the song. Ted Leo wanted us to understand the struggles they went through living in a society where often times, they were put down for having eating disorders.
