Mattel has an opportunity to expand into eastern countries due to their deep manufacturing knowledge and profit potential in this new market. Mattel’s continuing efforts to work with suppliers to follow the same legal and regulatory codes will only strengthen the Mattel brands. Additionally, by increasing green efforts, Mattel will cut costs to offset rising input costs.

Critical Strategic Milestones:
Mattel Inc. is one of the world’s largest toy manufacturers. In 2011 Mattel recorded revenues of $6.3 billion. They are responsible for designing and marketing a wide portfolio of brands that are sold to customers and directly to consumers. Mattel’s portfolio includes: Barbie, Polly Pocket, Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Fisher-Price, Mickey Mouse Club, Power Wheels, American Girl, and Tyco.
Mattel began in 1945 as a family-owned company and has evolved into a major toy tycoon over the past 67 years, even with steep competition from Hasbro Inc., JAKKS Pacific, Inc., and LEGO. Mattel has had many notable successes, but has also encountered supply chain and leadership issues along the way that have created negative press for the company.
