For as long as humans have been on this earth, our nature as human beings has been altered for the adoption of our environments. Human nature is what separates individuals from others. This has been shaping the choices we make, simply because human nature is an important part of everyday life. Although traits help us separate who we are as humans, our nature is what affects the choices we make. In the first place, as humans, we do things that make us feel comfortable, however if something makes us feel uncomfortable, we tend to avoid it completely. In Mary Shelley 's “Frankenstein a Modern Day Prometheus” she states “Nothing is more painful to the human mind, than after the feeling have been worked up by the quick succession of events…”

If we don’t go through something that is supposed to teach us a lesson, we would never learn from our mistakes. Shusterman explains this a different example “cut yourself some slack and try dealing with normal fourteen year old things.” (Shusterman 181). This quote shows that no matter show’s that no matter your age, you can still struggle. Everyone is fighting their own battles, and it may feel like the everything is going wrong. It really depends on the type of person, someone is. Most humans can look past the negatives, most choose not too. Shelley gives us insight on a deeper struggle when she inferred “I ardently desired to understand them. And bent every faculty towards that purpose, but i found it utterly impossible.”(Shelley 100). True defeat is the feeling of curiosity but not being capable of acting on it. If a person strives to learn, they will do all possible to achieve that goal. But sometimes there is nothing anyone can do to change fate. In her article “Traits of Human Nature” Poughkeepsie argues that our emotions are contagious despite what we think. Poughkeepsie stated that “Humans are wired to attend to the negative.” (Article 2 Poughkeepsie).
