Summary: This article is about honoring Martin Luther King Jr. and what he did in his life. Dr. King dedicated his life to equality, sacrificing his own life for his belief. Back when racism was very common and harsh in the USA, black people had disadvantages just because of their skin color. Dr. King did not believe in what was happening to the black people so he wanted to change it. He fought for the rights of black people and for everyone to be equal despite skin colour. He was successful in achieving equality. But sadly he was assassinated at only 39 years of age. And this is why we celebrate january 16th. If I were living in a place where I had disadvantages because of my looks, I would be downright furious. But I wouldn’t have the courage to stand up and do something about it. Why I think this is because I just simply wouldn’t have the guts to stand up. I wouldn’t want to have a risk of being killed or arrested. And that usually happened to a lot of people when they stood up for equal rights back then. Another reason is that I wouldn’t want to put anybody I know or love in danger. The article is about how we honor Martin Luther King Jr. because he fought for the rights of black people. He did help accomplish some peace for the black people, but he was assassinated when he was only 39 years old. My question about the article is, “Would you have the courage to stand up for rights?”. My answer to that is a no. I personally do not have the courage because I’m afraid of being injured, arrested or killed. Secondly, people may try to arrest my family or friends just because they’re related to me somehow. Finally, I would feel as if I would not change anything, so I wouldn’t do anything at all. This is what Martin Luther King Jr. day is about and why we celebrate
