On the Marquardt Beauty Analysis website, even though there are differences with people that are in the same category, there are familiarities of people group in the same category because as Marquardt, S. (2001) stated, sometimes it helps to understand the people better with respect to their general tendencies of the group. Therefore, the Asian ethnic group was selected for this lab because the image of the subject belongs to that ethnic group. The face-mask criterion confirm with the face that I used, after I resized by dragging the corners of the mask, the eyes, nose, and lips are all line up. This is being supported because as Little (2001) noted that attractive people have more dates than less attractive people. They will be more likely to be hired for jobs than less attractive people. Being beautiful, a person could obtain a better job, or be in an occupation where his or her face is shown more to the public. As the documentary, The Human Face, started out with the host saying beauty does matter, beauty brings better job (Erskine, 2011). The documentary further discussed that people are likely to perceive a person with beautiful face to have a positive personality than ugly face such as those with acne or scar on their face (Erskine, 2011). This might not be true for all cases because a person with a scar or acne on his or her face in reality might be just as nice or friendly as a person with a beautiful face, but again humans are visual animals we judge what we see. Like other animals, we tend to associate symmetric with good look and healthy. The Human face, the athletes with outstanding performances were measured, and turned out that they are correlated with being symmetric on their faces. Little (2001) wrote that male body symmetry is related to sperm number per ejaculate and sperm speed, while women breast symmetry is correlated with fecundity.
