Many students believe having the longest vacation is the best, but in fact, it’s awful due to that time period the students would forget what they learned.Then what was the whole point practicing that entire year to just forget it in two months? In order to increase student success at Anaheim School, students must go to summer school at least two times a week for the entire summer to be able to graduate. The name of the article is “Marita's Bargain” written by Malcolm Gladwell. “But take a look at the following sets of elementary school test-score results, and See if your faith in the value of long summer holidays isn’t profoundly shaken”(6). Kewauna the main character in the short story had a chance to become successful she doesn’t want to ruin this chance. Many of her friends left school by reason of it was just too hard. The Author explains how the college student being different color skin doesn’t matter to her at all. “Her biology professor used a lot of scientific terms in his lecture that Kewauna wasn’t familiar with”(3). Kewauna shows of the struggles she had when entering college. Something she did that was actually smart is she would stay after school to ask the teachers some questions about today’s subject or maybe sometimes spend hours in the library without eating.” Still, it was a difficult semester for Kewauna. She was always short of money and needed to economize everywhere she could”(4). Saying no is just a lazy way, there is always a way to be someone without all those goods. Being a college student is actually expensive cause most of the time you're paying for a book, housing, and school. However the school isn’t for anybody, sometimes people without a degree still earn more money with those with a degree.
