An example of how biased it can be is by clothing stores. Brandy Melville, a one-size fits most retailer, already limits the amount of girls that can shop at their store. Research shows that the average size of an American woman is a size 14, according to WebMD.com. When you single out possible consumers by only making your selection available to certain people, it’s discrimination. However, even companies that do sell clothes towards the ideal body type that have a plus-sized section limit those to a corner of the store. Because of these problems, happiness in teenagers, especially those struggling with their body, is affected. When consumers have the choice to choose a certain product, it can create a rivalry between companies. For example, the most popular competition is between Apple and PC. Both companies have commercials advertising how different and great each of their products are while subtly insulting each other. When these companies battle each other, they create bigger and better products that the public can buy. Although Apple’s prices are higher than PC’s, your Apple products are more guaranteed to work longer than PC’s products. The choice to buy a laptop that can last longer and keep your computer safe from viruses is easier to have today than having to buy a new laptop every few years because it’s slow and lacks features. This type of competition is also seen between phone companies. No matter who the company is, there will always be a comparison chart showing who has more coverage in America. Again, similar to the battle between technology brands, these companies share the same tactic with making their new deals better than other companies and lowering their prices to potential customers. These actions make it easier for consumers to choose better deals with better benefits. It’s convenient because it gives everyone easy access to keep up with technology. When we spend most of our lives working we would hope it is something we enjoy. Deciding what career you want to do for a living is extremely important.
