Powerschool is where the teachers send out our grade and it show what we received on an assignment or test as well as showing the quarter and final grade for that specific subject. On the other hand, Canvas is where the teachers show us what is due the next day, following week, or month. It is easy access to get to and it a very helpful guide because all the teachers from the subject use it so all the assignments are in one spot. As juniors at Lincoln Charter it is valuable to have our grades stable, and not below a B. So when we login into Powerschool and notice something wrong, you can email that teacher and ask if you can make it up. I love Powerschool and Canvas and is glad that we switched over into using this application Also at certain colleges, they also use Canvas as where all the classes are located, so it makes us have practice before

Willow Charter Academy (WCA) is a charter school located in Lafayette, Louisiana and managed by National Heritage Academies (NHA). A close examination of WCA’s Faculty and Staff Handbook, Student and Parent Handbook and NHA’s Employee Handbook show correlation to the federal law and describes some policies and procedures related to students and staff. While the Employee Handbook references many relevant federal laws while describing their procedure, it rarely mentions anything state-specific as NHA operates nation-wide. A comparison between the handbooks and Lafayette Parish School System’s (LPSS) policies and procedures listed online shows the difference between charter and public schools in relation to how their policies are created.…

Field Experience at Wildwood and Ernest Manning My cohort of ten was assigned to visit two schools over a two-week period with a full week dedicated to each location. The two schools were Wildwood elementary and Ernest Manning high school and while their relative closeness to one another would suggest that some Wildwood students may eventually be at Ernest Manning, they are opposites in terms of their status, how they carry themselves, and what they believe to be most important for students. Wildwood elementary is an old school as observed from its small and outdated architecture. Classes are small and at times claustrophobic, especially when packed with 20-25 of the nearly 600 students making it difficult if not impossible to navigate the…

Just like many of my peers, I came to college in order to allow myself a better and more option-filled future to do whatever it is that I decide to set my focus on. However, to obtain the right education and experiences to enable this, goals (both short-term and long-term) must be set. My short-term goals include making A’s in all of my courses this semester, securing an internship for the summer involving animals, and acing all of my chemistry 101 tests. As for my long-term goals, I want to get accepted into veterinary school, maintain a 3.5 or higher GPR as I get my undergraduate degree, and to positively impact others lives with my work.…
