Reflection On Leveraging Micro Funds Challenges

Improved Essays
The “Leveraging Micro Funds Challenge” was a very beneficial multi part assignment. It allowed for each group to think abstractly on how to fundraise money with very little capital. It was a great way for someone to understand their role when it comes to group work. Throughout this reflection I will touch on; the skills that I bring and my role in the group, what we could have done better, and my overall learning experience.

My group decided to do professional headshots for our leveraging micro funds challenge. It was of low cost to us, only needing a camera and a computer, and an in demand service that students need and are aware of. We decided to take the headshots at one of the most aesthetically pleasing areas on campus, the E5 bridge.

The first problem we had, happened before even the initial presentation, when one of our group members dropped the class. However, my group quickly picked up the slack and filled in all the missing pieces that our old group member was in charge of. Another problem that we ran into was the camera. We had a camera but it unfortunately got broken just before our event. One of my group member’s friends were kind enough to rent us his camera for the duration of the event. The largest problem occurred the day of the event when we realized that a UW group was hosting the same event, same time, same place and instead of charging $5 they were doing it for free. This was a large problem for us as they had a lot more reach so they would completely overshadow us. To avoid this problem, we decided to spread out our event over multiple days and change the price of our event. We decided to make the donation discretionary instead of the mandatory $5. This actually benefited us a lot, as it drove traffic to our event and we didn’t cap people’s generosity, which allowed us to get larger donations. Working through problems is a part of every group assignment, with this assignment, my group was to able to effectively work around every problem which was thrown our

What is your team’s approach to completing the project? This project is difficult for anyone to complete in an online class setting such as this. However, this is not because of any task that is assigned for this project, but because this assignment forces us to learn to effectively communicate with each other to complete a common goal. We began communicating early this week regarding what we need to accomplish in order to complete this project, and we have come to a conclusion.…

When I was in High School, I performed as Beta Club president for two years. While president, the Beta Club complete many project including a donation to Heifer International. How we were going to raise donations was left to decide between myself and the rest of the Beta Club officers, so all final decisions and deadlines were mine to decide. To raise money, we had each Homeroom class compete against each other to see who could raise the most money. During the semester, we held an event where classes competed in games against each other, and the winners won so much money to help them win the prize.…

First, what worked well was how our group integrated our individual skills together to complete the project. When we introduced ourselves and what our concentrations were, it was easy to determine what roles and responsibilities we would take on. We worked individually on our tasks before meeting together and integrating everything into the final product. The problems that arose primarily concerned communication and scheduling group meetings.…

I was very happy when we came together as a group because I’ve never been in a group with any of these people before and I was excited to work with them. One of the strengths from our group’s presentation was that we all included lots of helpful information on PTSD on our respective slides, which will hopefully teach the class something about the mental illness. Another strength of our presentation was how it looked. Kristina and I spent lots of time going over the aesthetic of the entire presentation to make sure every slide matched (ex: using the same font and colours).…

The group project felt important to me, because it gave me a chance to present a topic that was meaningful to me. The topic of my group’s project was anti-racism in protest songs, and showing how many artists took to the stage with their thoughts of equality, attempting to change the way that some people are perceived in this nation. Preparing this project didn’t go without stress or challenges though. My group partners, despite my persistent nagging, procrastinated until the last minute to get any work done, and even though there were five of us in my group, only two people did any significant work on the presentation. As the deadline for the presentation was growing closer, I knew that it was time to act.…

Dear Professor Edwards, Last semester, I was a student at Colorado State University. I did not take English 121; however, I did take a class like it called Composition 130. Socratic Seminar

The Socratic Seminar that took place this past Monday, in regards to “Where I Lived, and what I Lived For” by Henry David Thoreau was in my opinion just one example of how much our class needs to improve when it comes to group discussions and analyzations. There is much room for improvement when communicating one’s ideas and opinions, not only in the class but also in myself and this seminar served as good practice. Of course, there were obstacles that were insurmountable when it came to running a smooth seminar such as class size and the number of people discussing at once but some common courtesies were ignored. The sheer number of side conversations that occurred at any one moment was quite troublesome for me personally, as I saw other people actively participating in the group discussion while others were treating them with great disrespect by not paying attention and periodically interrupting them before they could properly explain their input. Remaining on track also seemed to be a constant difficulty that we had to contend with.…

In High School I was given the task along with a select group of students, to be curators for a Holocaust museum presented by the 10th-grade class. It was a large undertaking put upon a small group of 10th graders but we felt confident. Our grade depended on the performance and outcome of the event as a whole. Leading up to the event things seemed to go smoothly and well organized but it was later known that many of the selected curators would not have been able to attend the event. Out of the 10 chosen only 5 were able to attended and it was definitely a setback.…

Introduction In this reflection, I will focus on some important topics such as, what I learned about individual and business taxation from this course, what was my experience with the group project and what were the challenges that I faced during both the group project and this course. I am also going to add some main overall points that I learned. Tax is generally an amount of money that is charged by a government on a product, income, or activity so that it can pay for public services. In addition, there are several very common types of taxes: • Income Tax (a percentage of individual or corporate earnings filed to the government) • Sales Tax (taxes charged on certain goods and services) • Property Tax (taxes charged on the value of land…

This article is about the issues surrounding the African women who face the problems with micro credits. Micro credit refers to credit (loans) in small amounts to people who do not ordinarily have access to credit. It is delivered to poor people through micro-finance institutions (MFIs), which include a wide variety of organisations such as credit unions, financial non-governmental organisations (NGOs), informal savings and loan groups. The imposition of micro credit leads to an increase in the injection of the circular flow.…
