Boroditsky uses her informant and explanatory tone to relay her enticing perspective on the benefits and positive aspects of the world view through the eyes of foreign language speaking communities. The audience consists of educated, business career individuals all of whom read the Wall Street Journal. The author, Lera Boroditsky, is a professor of psychology, neuroscience, and symbolic systems at Stanford University. Furthermore, the purpose of the article is to persuade the business careered individuals of the benefits of the different perspective of the foreign language speaking community. Notably, the author uses the purpose and audience of this piece through the rhetorical choices to effectively persuade the audience of the fortuitous assets of the foreign language speaking communities’ perspective. In addition, this article challenges and persuades the business careered individuals to rethink the way language is taught and received.
