Langston hughes is a phenomenal poet who uses a mixture of music and art to create a unique type of poetry. He incorporates jazz and blues into his poetry to create a unique trend of poetry for his audience. His type of poetry was new to the world- he wanted to connect to his audience with a unique expression of his love for music and his ideas of African Americans. Langston hughes, a poet, social activist, novelist, playlist, columnist and who many may recognize as the “Renaissance Man” during the 1920s. He was one of the earliest innovators of the Harlem Renaissance. Hughes was born on February 1, 1902, in Joplin, Missouri- where he grew up with his grandmother for his maternal side. Hughes parents separated soon after his birth and his father moved to Mexico afterwards. Young Hughes lived with his grandmother in Kansas until he was thirteen and then moved with his mother to Lincoln after the death of his grandmother. Although during the time that Hughes lived with his grandmother- she was old and was unable to give Hughes the attention he needed as a child. Hughes felt hurt and in need of his parents at a young age and questioned why he could not live with both of his parents. These feelings of rejection and isolation from his parents caused him to grow up very insecure and unsure of himself. After the death of Hughes grandmother, he moved in with is mother and stepfather to Cleveland, Ohio and it was during this time that Hughes first began to write…
