When she is done reading the letter, she expresses some of her concerns about Macbeth. She believes that Macbeth is to good hearted to do what must be done for him to become king: “Yet I do fear thy nature: / It is too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way” (1.5.17-18). Lady Macbeth, being Macbeths wife, knows her husband better than anybody else. She knows that Macbeth it to kind and noble to commit murder for the crown, so lady Macbeth takes it upon herself to do the deed. She calls upon the evil spirts of the world to make her strong and unremorseful when she is faced with murdering King Duncan. However, when the time comes to muder Duncan she is unable to proceed. She clams that the reason she is unable to murder Duncan is because he resembles her father: “Had he not resembled / My father as he slept, I had done ’t” (2.2.12-13). The plan for the murder involves Lady Macbeth murdering Duncan, but when she sees him sleeping she is unable to go through with the original plan This is the first time that the reader notices a change within Lady Macbeth. She has turned her husband in to a murder and because of her the king of Scotland dies. As the play progresses all these thing s catch up with her. She begins to sleepwalk and talk in her sleep. In her sleep, she walks around trying to wash out blood spots that were on her hand when Duncan was murdered: “Out, damned spot! Out, I say!” (5.1.25). Lady Macbeth is now starting to feel remorse for the evil she has caused. She now knows that it takes a lot more than just water to purify her of the evil she has done.
