Reflective Essay On Pursuing Kathy's Dreams

Kathy was a very simple woman in my opinion. She never complained or asked for too much. She was not spoiled by John neither did she want to be; all she ever wanted was love. She only wanted true love and a real family. To me is it seems that ever since Kathy was young, she wanted to form a family and be a mother. For some time she let those dreams, her dreams, be put on hold for John’s. I feel like Kathy was hurt by that because as each year passed, having children seemed less important to John; it was always about him and what could be done to accomplish only his dreams as a politician. Slowly Kathy is losing hope because throughout the book there is a sense that both of them are destroying each other by how intense their relationship has been since the start going back to john’s idea of one plus one equals zero. (chapter 10) Kathy ends up leaving because she didn’t want to be destroyed and damaged any longer; she wanted to be alive. (Chapter …show more content…
I believe that was Kathy’s magic. Believing that they can get through this, that Kathy can help john. That it’s only a matter of time. (chapter 18) Kathy is a strong woman, she eventually discovers that she wants and needs. She is very ambitious and stops caring and does what she wants without feeling guilty (chapter 22). Kathy realizes that she needs to stop dwelling on the past, a past when John and her were actually happy in love and nothing came in between their love. She knows that she’s been mourning that loss but its time to let go and move on (chapter 22) Kathy leaves because she wanted change, she needs it to survive and be free. At last giving herself the opportunity to live happily, going after her dreams elsewhere. (chapter
