My parents escaped Vietnam and entered China to work for Visas to come to America. As soon as my parents families got their visas, they flew to America with twenty dollars in their pockets. As much as their families struggled, they knew by working hard and struggling to make money to provide for one another is what will help them make a happier life style for each of their families. My parents back then did not care about the materialistic objects. All that mattered was that their brothers and sisters were not starving another night and that they had books and pencils for school. But as more money was being made, materialistic things slowly became more and more luxurious to have in their house holds. They would spend most days in the kitchen and waiting tables in order to make money. My parents work hard and are barely home but that did not mean they did not care enough about their children. School is expensive now, and my parents understand that. Mom and dad opened a second restaurant not just to keep up with their spending habits but to also put my siblings and I through college. Business and personal lives always stayed separate because they never wanted their work to affect how their children do in school. My parents work hard but they always like to take family trips like hikes at Yosemite or Parasailing in Hawaii. In hopes of my own future children, I hope I could be able to make sure I do not bring my work home with me. I will want to work as hard as my parents do in order to bring in a good amount of income to put my own children through school in hopes of their own success in the future.
