They average student is 30,000 dollars in debt. Flint’s water is still undrinkable. Puerto Rico is still without power. Each day we the ozone layer melts and the earth hurls miles closer into the center of the sun. Life is defined by “the existence of an individual human being.” The key word of that sentence is existence which can be defined in two ways. One being “a way of living” the other as “continued survival.” Humans do not strive for the latter. They do not look to just “survive” but to thrive yet life is miserable, unreliable, and unfair. The only way to thrive in this absurd life humans are locked into is to be happy.

Those inflicted with this disease lose their action, ethics, and common sense to the control of the drug. Pat, a talented guitarist raised in a broken home was addicted to Heroin. After becoming addicted to prescription pills like Xanax and Vicodin he found Heroin to be a cheaper alternative and as he sunk the needle into her skin, the drug sunk it’s claws into he life. As Pat’s addiction grew worse and worse he dropped out of school, was thrown out of his house, and kicked out of his band. In fleeting moments of sobriety Pat would remember his talent and pen songs, despite the addiction, music was the thing that made Pat truly happy. Through the focus on his talent he eventually joined a new band and launched a successful solo career.
