“The Fault in Our Star,” directed by Josh Boone, is a typical story of the journey of two teens who are both fighting cancer. Josh Boone directs the spotlight on these two teens specifically as he pulls the viewers closer into their journey. This movie not only exposes the story of two teens with cancer but also includes real life symbols and great quotes throughout different scenes of these two teens specifically. This movie will pull viewers emotionally closer into a love story that defines classic true love between two innocent teens fighting similar obstacles with a twist of bitter sweetness and humor.
The main characters Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley) and Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort) meet, and she find herself falling in love with Augustus, who also went by Gus, in the movie. Both find themselves understanding one another like no one has, sharing the same interest in their love of books and letting their different ways of thinking in life pull them closer as one. The tape continues to roll as Hazel and Gus join hands, searching for an ending to Hazel’s favorite book, An Imperial Affliction, by Peter Van Houten. A story about a girl name Anna, who also had cancer, the novel takes readers on the journey that Anna took, however, the story had no ending of what Anna’s faith will be like. The story ended mid-sentence and does not tell readers whether she will be able to live or die.
