In Death be not Proud, John Gunther tells a story of his son Johnny who is sick and died at the age of 17. Johnny, at the age of 16 complains of headaches and fatigues. The symptoms for Johnny continue on and a series of trips to the hospital came to confirm the worst, Johnny had a brain tumor. The tumor came back as inoperable and Johnny is given only months to live. Johnny is not one who gives up easily. Johnny agrees to go through harsh treatments and goes under multiple surgeries which removes a lot of the tumor. He continued to work hard in school and apply to colleges, although his time to be in the classroom was very limited.
