President John. F Kennedy begin to prepare a visit to five Western European nations to build unity among the America’s Allies. One of those nations was Germany. The country had been divided in half; the East Germany was under control of Soviet Russia and the West Germany becoming democratic nation allied with the United States. Due to that division, the city of Berlin was also divided into East Berlin and West Berlin by a wall called “The Berlin Wall”.
When President John F. Kennedy arrived in West Berlin, he make a speech offers hope to the city’s residents, who were enclosed by communist East Germany. “There are people that don’t distinguish the difference between a free world and the communist word” –Kennedy, so he was honored to be at West Berlin because it represents the fighting of freedom.

In my opinion, the message is relevant today because it is one of the greatest speeches about freedom. He wants to offers hope to the West Berlin because they are the ones who fought for liberty.
In the other hand, some people thinks that John Kennedy speech shows contempt towards the communist world. It takes as the main argument the situation of the city of Berlin and the wall construction.
