Analysis Of Jeannie's Story

Improved Essays
There were many things that I did not agree with in Jeannie’s story, I feel that she was abandoned. When the grants and money from the government stopped most of the people working on her case stopped caring. She should have been placed with the linguist lady she is one of the few I actually felt would have taken care of Jeannie in the way that she needed. She was making advancements in certain areas with communication and I think could have strived better that way. She had to endure many tests that were done over a period of time to try and figure out which steps needed to be taken. Those tests didn’t really suggest the correct way of handling her case, it was just another doctor going in a different direction than the other five doctors.

Supporting characters can be some of the most important characters. That’s the case for Miss Maudie. At first, Miss Maudie just seems like the woman across the street, but the amount of things she contributes the story is copious. Thelma and Louise, a film by Carolyn Ann Khouri, trails the liberations of two working class women in the 90’s. These women plan a weekend away from the men in their lives due to the fact that Thelma’s husband is a misogynistic man who feels that a woman’s job consists only of housework and cooking. In the first scene of the movie Thelma wants to ask her husband, Darryl, for permission to go on the trip with Louise. He yells at her and she quickly changes the subject. In my opinion, this is one of the most crucial scenes in the entire film because it outlines the sexism and discrimination that these two women will face throughout the course of the movie.…

Jeanie with the light brown hair (published in 1854) by Stephen Foster is performed by a tenor with piano accompaniment. The piano introduces the work with a short prelude starting on a high note then descending in conjunct intervals, briefly ascends from a low note to a note close to F. The piano then varies the prior phrase by descending from a high note with eighth notes then sustaining a note close to A. Following the prelude, the tenor begins the first section on with “I” on the high note introduced by the first phrase of the piano prelude. Following the melody of the prelude’s first phrase the tenor continues with “dream of Jeanie with the light brown hair” accompanied by consonant chords from the piano.
