She used facts to help the persuasion of her speech. She went on to tell us a story about the people from Lydia. These people from Lydia were the very first people to have ever created a game. Why did they create this game? Well because their people were dying from starvation. How would this game help with that? Great question this game helped with that because it distracted them from the fact that they were starving so they would eat one day and the play a game of dice the next. This helped them survive for 18 years. Until they decided that this wasn’t enough they wanted to not only be surviving but thriving and really making a place for them within the world. So they had one last big game where half the people would stay in Lydia and the other half would leave Lydia and hunt for better land and food. This last game ended up saving their entire race. So as you can see Jane McGonigal used a lot of different techniques within her speech. But over all I think that they worked and she did a fantastic job keeping the audiences attention and making sure that they wouldn’t forget her speech within just a couple minuets. She was a great example of how we should create a speech if we want it to be a successful
