I agree with the statement that most children who live in poverty come from broken homes, receive welfare, were abused, or have criminal relatives because I have had many classmates that have gotten into legal trouble and have relatives as criminals. They do not groom or dress nicely, and are poor. Thinking of our future generation as a poor, unhealthy, uneducated, and untrained labor force is not illogical, especially when looking at a decline in the nation as a social aspect. I believe it is logical because the ethics of the workforce 50 years ago are different to the ethics of the modern workforce. Youth have become lazy due to technology and having what they want on hand. Only about half of the people I know have jobs as a teenager. Whereas 50 years ago, many teenagers either had to work or do things around the home to help because of the difference in lifestyles. Finally, I agree with Westman’s new paradigm in order to help future children. I agree that competent parents provide a better example for children and how they should strive to be. I also believe that if children are treated as another human being rather than their parents’ property, the outcome will be more beneficial for the child and their
