Carmody turns the myth into a drama. Her drama uses the concept of religion to interpret the myth in her own way. Religions are very diverse. In most religions that exists today, a certain spiritual idol or a God is followed. The rodents are following a belief by following the Piper's music and going to Evermore. This shows similarities to human life style, people who are following a trend whether its fashion, stories or the latest music hit. However, following without considering the consequences doesn't apply to all trends. The author seems to put her point of view on the story as a sad but bad choice making type of attitude to the drama.
