According to economists, when people earn; they either consume it or save it. A person consumes money by spending it on something like a car, food or clothing. The money which is kept aside for consumption at a later time is called saving.
Saving involves putting aside money in a deposit account, a pension account or as cash. In terms of personal finance, saving generally specifies low-risk preservation of money. Investment also involves putting money away, but in a risky endeavour. Buying shares in a listed company is investing.
An investor before investing should take into consideration returns, risks, tax safety, and entry/exit barriers. Each investment option is to be evaluated on the above mentioned parameters and then selected for investing.
