Analysis Of Imagery Poem 'Negativity'

Imagery Poem
Negativity.
The reason behind hate in this world.
An unearthly force that weighs down on your shoulders,
Like baleful, and behemoth boulders.
We’re forced to live in the darkness, as if the world was etched in charcoal, and the once vibrant hues of the flowers were no more than a vivid dream.
There is not even one sunbeam.
There are days I wonder if my mind is an engine or an exhaust masked with negativity.
Am I the master of what I think or are my ideas the result of deep thinking I'm only loosely aware of because my mind is in captivity.
But when the sun rises casting the trees in their virescent hues and bringing the warm golden tones back to the earth. Your steps feel lighter as you bask under the brilliant beams breaking through

Furthermore, in paragraph four, Brogard describes light pollution as “the bulldozer of the night, wrecking habitat and disrupting ecosystems several billion years in the making.” As he threatens an ecological collapse, he establishes a feeling of imminent doom - cornering the reader into thinking that there is no other option than addressing the lack of darkness. Brogard also appeals to the wistful side of the reader, when, after describing how the universe has inspired great thinkers, he questions “Who knows what this vision of the night sky might inspire in each of us, in our children or grandchildren?” To evoke a feeling of loss and denial in the reader, he then explains the sad truth that “Those of us over 35 are perhaps among the last generation to have known truly dark nights.” Throughout his essay, Brogard’s emotional appeal is largely dedicated to vulnerable human emotions such as guilt, fear, and grief, in an attempt to create a deeper connection between the reader and the argument.…

A world, we once knew, yet somehow now ceases to exist. I let my eyes wander and deliberate the textures and vibrant tones, that unintentionally irritated my raw eyes, sensitive only to the sombre colours, that stained my memories; working in the harsh fields, carrying hods of excrement, and sleeping above farm animals, what was to be of my life? I pondered, however, I pondered no longer, for in my eye’s haste to retreat from the…

Through using first person narration Lau traces her traumatizing early life experience and how has family coping twisted the conflicting psychological state within her. Lau expertly narrates the self-denying situation she is trapped in as the cause of the inescapable ritual of bulimia. It seems to this young woman that throwing up things from her stomach would eventually clear her past as well. Yet after years and years of purging and binging, the conflicts stay and they had gone worse.…

All is dark in the monochromatic town. The fish are almost dead with the pollution that clogs the lake, and the ferris wheel, which once filled with the delighted screams of children, creaks in the distance. The air chokes on the smoke from the many factories. Everything is eerily silent, save for muffled arguments behind tightly closed shutters and the quiet sobs of those whose hope was drained long ago. Hungry, reflective eyes glow in the alleyways.…

You and Your Mind: The Relationship Between Mind and Body Is your mind part of your physical body? Or is the human mind something that scientists will never truly be able to understand? Although there are many ideas of how the body and mind work together, two major theories stand out. One theory, monism, claims that the mind and body are the same entity, suggesting that minds are just another part of our physical body (Descartes PowerPoint 34). The second theory, substance dualism, argues that the mind and body are separate, but work together (Descartes PowerPoint 34).…

In particular, the sun has been “veiled” and that it has been “put out”, evoking a sense that sun was a real living being but has since been slayed, no longer able to provide light. This paints a striking image, accompanied with a sense of devastation, as the earth is “burnt” and oceans “scalded”, displaying the consequences of human actions on nature. This emphasises to the reader that nature is being destroyed and that even the sun, the brightest star in the universe has died from human actions. Moreover, this provides the reader with a feeling of darkness and emptiness, all hope for redemption…
