Hunter Rawlings has the appropriate knowledge and background to speak with authority on this subject because he has the education and he is the president of the Association of American Universities and a former president of Cornell University and the University of lowa. The author’s style and language tell the reader that he is an educated person that knows what he is talking about. Hunter Rawlings does not seem deceptive because he is a person that already went through his college life. I think it’s a serious topic and I agree with Hunter that college is more than a commodity, but I just don’t feel anything when I read it or think about it. I think Hunter tries to make his reader feel mad or sad because of the points he states and how he explains them. For example, when he mentions how the government and legislators see colleges and students. It doesn’t affect me in any way though. Most of the time if I have any type of feeling towards a topic it still doesn’t affect my logical interpretation because I always try to put myself into both arguments and I don’t let my feelings get in the way.
