Homer Simpson is the main protagonist in the animation show “The Simpsons” and by far his most legendary quote is, "Alcohol - The cause of and solution to all of life 's problems!" Many viewers will agree with his statement, but they fail to realize just how traumatic the effects alcohol abuse can have on their body. Your body is a very complex and delicate system that has to be taken care of properly otherwise multiple complications can arise. The central nervous system, cardiovascular system, digestive system, immune system, and respiratory system are all vulnerable to the effects of alcohol. Depending on how much alcohol is consumed it can cause some catastrophic effects to occur like cancer of the mouth or throat, pneumonia, high blood pressure, and heart failure. The central nervous system is the most complex, yet fragile, system in the human body. It is capable of producing our every thought, action, and experience of the world. Even though the brain is highly intelligent it is easily susceptible to the destructive forces alcohol abuse can cause. Alcohol can affect parts of the brain that control movement, speech, judgment, and memory. These effects lead to the familiar signs of drunkenness: impaired coordination, slurred speech, blackouts, and impaired senses. As with other body systems, alcohol abuse can have detrimental effects on the cardiovascular system. Alcohol abuse can increase the workload of the heart, which can lead to an irregular heartbeat,…
